Director Biography – Shireen Rahimi

Dr. Shireen Rahimi (she/her) is an Iranian/American filmmaker, marine scientist, freediving cinematographer, National Geographic Explorer, and founder of Lightpalace Productions. She goes above and below the water to tell stories that highlight our emotional connections to the natural world—because when we feel connected to nature, we’re more likely to take care of it.

Dr. Rahimi has been featured as a contributor on National Geographic Sharkfest, and was named Nautica’s newest ocean conservation Wavemaker. Her work has been featured on ABC, National Geographic, Sierra Magazine, The Nature Conservancy, and film festivals around the world. With every aspect of her practice, Dr. Rahimi is dedicated to telling stories that encourage action and healing around our current moment of ecological crisis.
