“In Exile” documents the lives of several artists, writers, political activists, and songwriters living in exile. The film presents a unique perspective on the human experience of exile, fostering deeper engagement with issues of forced migration, conflict, and the lingering effects of violence.
Ralph Vituccio (ralphvituccio.com) is a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, teaching in both the English Department’s Film and Media Studies program and the Entertainment Technology Center (ETC), where he merges storytelling, technology, and immersive design to explore new frontiers in interactive media.
An award-winning filmmaker and media artist, Vituccio’s work spans traditional and interactive documentaries, immersive installations, and virtual experiences, often diving deep into themes of war, identity, and the human condition.
His creative projects have earned wide recognition, including a prestigious Tribeca Film Institute Immersive Film Grant for his VR experience exploring the lives of the Haenyeo — the legendary female divers of Jeju Island, South Korea. His work has also been featured in major international exhibitions, such as an interactive art installation showcased in the 2016 XII Havana Cuba Biennale. Other honors include screenings and accolades at national and international film festivals, cementing his role as a pioneer in the intersection of storytelling and emerging media.
