Stella Maris Berria was the name of a tuna fishing boat meant to be scrapped. At least, until Iñigo Mijangos and Iñigo Gutiérrez —members of Basque NGO Salvamento Marítimo Humanitario— come up with an odd idea: convert it into a rescue boat for saving refugees from drowning in the Mediterrenean Sea. And that’s how Aita Mari is born.
‘Aita Mari’ tells the two-year-long odyssey of this ship, from its reconstruction until its first rescue.
