On the 4th of August 2020, a large amount of unstable
stored ammonium nitrate exploded in the port of Beirut.

More than 200 people died.
6,000 were injured and 300,000 left displaced.
Among them, many refugees residing in Beirut.

Director Biography – Patrick H. Kohl

Patrick H. Kohl is a multiple award-winning film director.

Based in Berlin and Beirut he specializes in cinematic portraits and capturing human life stories in cultural documentaries, focused on creating impact and awareness for a better tomorrow. In 2020 his debut doc-films “THE CONSCIENCE OF CLOTHING” (100 Minute feature) and “4/8 | BEIRUT” (28 Minute short) have been officially selected by more than 40 international film and human rights festivals, winning 16 awards.

Before working on cultural documentaries, Patrick worked as a journalist for more than 10 years, as well as producer and (live-)director for several major international brands and advertising agencies. He founded his first production company at the age of 25, where he worked with all major German TV networks.

His journeys to cover life on film in collaboration with national and international NGOs, foundations and organisations have taken him to several countries (e.g. Iraq, Afghanistan, Nepal, Lebanon, India, Cambodia and South Africa).

Patrick supports UNICEF, Seebrücke e.V, KANIYA Collective e.V., Equal Rights Beyond Borders, Talk to Loop, and his local football club from Berlin-Kreuzberg “FSV Hansa 07”.
