ROBERT VON WROBLEWSKY

Born in 1982 and raised in East-Berlin into a family of artists, musicians (Pascal von Wroblewsky) and philosophers (Vincent von Wroblewsky), Robert’s first cinematic experiments began at the age of twelve. A small VHS video camera started it all – YouTube & digital editing didn’t exist yet.

Stories were invented and the craft was learned in a film studio. Acting in a theatre group opened up new horizons and provided for new cinematic possibilities.

The philosopher & Sartre translator Vincent de Wroblewsky inspired new ways of thinking. Social issues became more and more part of new projects.

Always accompanied by his own music, in various projects and formations, partly under pseudonym, it influenced his filmmaking and led to new forms of expression. Among them the documentary “Perm 36 – The Last Gulag“. A film about the human rights festival Pilorama in the only Gulag museum in the whole of Russia.

2014 saw the debut feature film „The Last Drop“ Supported by renowned German actors the film entered German arthouse cinema screens.

A childrens movie („Time is running“) followed in 2020, combining existential themes with a light tone.
