In 2005 an old man called Abudu Reyimu together with his family made the Wuzunboke Karez, 5 km off his village. Thanks to which, a 50-mu oasis has been created.
Digging a karez is a big event for any family. Having spent nearly 1 million yuan in 12 years in a row, they can get some financial returns only in recent years. Since the digging of the karez began, Abudu Reyimu has never left the village.

Ms. Jia has directed a large number of film productions, including the documentary “Not One Less’; ten-episode series “Xinjiang: Our Beautiful Land” observing the 50th anniversary of the founding of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region; six-episode docudrama “Brilliant Xinjiang” celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China; five-episode docudrama “Wang Enmao”; three-films series set in the grassland (“Grandpa in His Declining Years”, “Hilltop Valley”, and “Skylark”); long documentary “Old Karez in Age-Old Villages”; and long documentary “Donkey Business-A Way Out of Poverty”.
