Xaviera has fled Nicaragua and upon arriving in Costa Rica makes a discovery that brings her own story to life: the grave of her grandfather who, decades earlier, also fled, pushed by Nicaragua’s political violence and economic crisis. Xaviera, a single mother, is the most recent generation of political exiles who historically come to this country to reinvent themselves. The search for a home is Xaviera’s main goal, as she deals with her wounds and a complex economic situation, with two young children suffering from exile.
