Director Biography – Egor Trushin

Born and raised in a small town in the north of Siberia (Russian Federation), Egor Trushin graduated from a military school prior to being accepted to some of the most acclaimed universities in Saint Petersburg for Management Studies. Shortly after, Egor decided to pursue his true passion – film – by moving to Toronto, Canada, and starting his formal filmmaking education at the Toronto Film School.

Considering real industry experience as one of his priorities, Egor used every opportunity to work on sets, often supported and mentored by his school instructors and senior industry professionals. By doing so, Egor quickly progressed from production assistant jobs to positions that bring more responsibility and influence, such as 1st Assistant Director, Production Coordinator/Manager/Supervisor, and Producer.

During his Film Production studies, apart from being an integral part of numerous student projects, Egor produced multiple commercial videos for Yorkville University and the Toronto Film School. Moreover, he was one of the select few who were granted an opportunity to direct their short thesis film with the official support of the school.

Egor Trushin graduated from the Toronto Film School program in March 2020 with a cumulative GPA of 4.10 and was a consistent recipient of President’s and Honor’s Certificates throughout each term. Right after that, he enrolled in the Business Administration Program of Yorkville University, striving to improve his skill set as a producer.

One of Egor’s latest projects, a documentary titled The Turtles of Ontario: A Silent Cry for Help that he produced and directed is already receiving stellar feedback both from academic, scientific and filmmaking professionals. Currently, Egor is strategizing an optimal festival release for the project, and, in the meantime, he is working as a freelance director, producer, and production manager.
